What Is This?
The Friendship Audit is an energy-based assessment tool that categorises your relationships into four groups (energisers, maintainers, drainers, toxic) and produces concrete actions and scripts for each — so you can protect your social energy without guilt.
Why It Exists
Social energy is finite — especially for neurodivergent people who often mask during social interactions. Investing it in relationships that consistently drain more than they give leads to isolation, resentment, and burnout. Most people know which friendships cost them but don't have a framework for acting on that knowledge. This provides one.
Who It's For
- ▸People who feel socially exhausted despite not having many close friends
- ▸Individuals with ADHD or RSD who over-give in relationships out of fear of rejection
- ▸Anyone who wants to invest their limited social energy more intentionally
How It Works
You assess each friendship across three axes: energy impact after interaction, masking level required, and overall relationship category. The tool produces a sorted relationship map and specific actions for each category — plus short and firm scripts for stepping back from draining relationships.
You get:
- ▸A complete friendship energy audit worksheet
- ▸Four-category relationship map (energiser/maintainer/drainer/toxic)
- ▸Specific actions for each relationship category
- ▸Scripts for gently or firmly stepping back where needed
What Makes It Different
This reframes the friendship audit as a sustainability decision, not a loyalty decision. The question isn't "do I care about this person" — it's "can I sustain this relationship given my actual capacity."
